About
Born in Andalusia, Spain, in 1993, John Serrano is a versatile multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. Beyond his numerous solo albums, he’s contributed to various projects and collaborations across diverse genres.His first album for monochrome motif records, Alive, was crafted in Spring 2024. It showcases his jazz, folk and blues influences, with John performing all instruments and vocals. The album’s title reflects his use of first takes on most occasions.In April 2025, John collaborated with Andrew Hartshorn to release the single Retail Reverie, marking the beginning of an exciting longer-term project. The single was mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Sean Magee at Abbey Road Studios.In May 2025, John released the second part of his Alive trilogy, Still Alive. He used similar writing and recording techniques for that album and the final part of the trilogy, Come Alive, released in October 2025.Serrano’s 2026 promises to be an exciting year with a new album Neurofolk on the horizon. This will be his first album to feature Spanish language versions alongside English ones. The first single “What A Ride” has already dropped with a second single “I Can’t Get You Out of My Head” to follow in April.Beyond his recording career, John is also honing his live performance skills. In September 2025 he showcased songs from his Alive trilogy live in Zaragoza. He’s currently planning more shows which will build on his Alive trilogy material by introducing newer material from the upcoming Neurofolk album.
